Electrical Design Engineer role at Binnies, based in Glasgow, Scotland, United Kingdom.
Responsibilities
* Lead teams of electrical engineers to produce clear and concise engineering deliverables appropriate for the intended audience including single line diagrams, cable block diagrams and control system architecture drawings, load schedules, MCC datasheets, equipment and material selection, enquiry documentation, datasheets, schedules and reports.
* Serve as a technical specialist providing knowledge and expertise.
* Ensure compliance with in-house procedural and quality systems.
* Coordinate the development of key multidisciplinary deliverables such as P&IDs.
* Manage design interfaces with other disciplines and integrate the EICA design elements into the overall design.
* Work closely with project teams, other engineering disciplines, Project Managers, estimating, site and commissioning teams, CAD, Joint Venture partners and Clients.
* Undertake technical bid assessments, subcontractor design reviews and provide technical support to site teams.
* Provide technical guidance and supervision to project teams.
* Undertake supervisor responsibilities including performance management and supporting professional development.
* Define and manage budget, schedule, and quality requirements for electrical teams.
Qualifications and skills
* Clean water and wastewater engineering systems design experience including equipment specification, electrical power systems / water treatment control systems, plant layout, working knowledge of other discipline needs, preparation of plant and equipment layouts, change and risk management, preparation of technical and economic evaluations for electrical plant.
* Working knowledge of electrical power systems or water treatment control systems, integrated system design, relevant manufacturing processes, testing and commissioning practices, procurement processes, strong knowledge of codes and practices, CDM, understand environmental management, planning process, document control.
* Be degree qualified in electrical engineering, or closely associated course.
* Typically, have several years of related work experience.
* Must be enthusiastic, adaptable and driven to provide efficient engineering solutions.
* Be self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision to lead teams to deliver engineering outputs to time and budget.
* Excellent written and verbal communications skills along with a high level of computer literacy.
* Professional Qualification (IEng / CEng MIET).
* Display leadership behaviours that help to build strong effective teams.
