Payroll
Location: Llanelli | Full-Time | Permanent
£28,000 to £32,000 @ 34 hours a week
We're looking for a Payroll Manager who doesn't just "do payroll" but owns it. This is a standalone role in our accounting firm, so you'll be the heartbeat of our payroll department—running everything from start to finish with confidence, accuracy, and a strong client focus.
Think less "processor" and more "Donna from Suits"—someone who takes control, solves problems, and becomes the go-to person for payroll expertise.
What you'll be doing
End-to-end payroll processing across multiple clients with different needs and pay frequencies.
Handling PAYE, pensions, statutory payments, and year-end requirements (P60s, P11Ds, etc.).
Managing compliance with HMRC and keeping up to date with payroll legislation.
Building strong client relationships—answering questions, giving clear advice, and acting as their trusted payroll partner.
Spotting issues before they become problems and making improvements to processes.
Taking ownership of the payroll function and shaping it into your own.
What we're looking for
Solid payroll experience (bureau or accounting firm background is a big plus).
Confident communicator who can speak with clients in plain English.
Someone proactive, detail-driven, and organised—comfortable working independently.
Knowledge of UK payroll legislation and systems (experience with [insert software used, Moneysoft and Brightpay is a bonus).
A professional who thrives on responsibility and enjoys being the expert in the room.
Why join us?
We're a growing accounting firm that values initiative and fresh thinking. You'll have the freedom to run the payroll department your way, while being supported by a wider team that appreciates what you bring. This is a role with real visibility and impact—perfect for someone who wants to step up and be more than "just payroll."
Competitive salary (dependent on experience)
Career progression opportunities within a supportive firm
A culture that values independence, ownership, and people who make things happen
