Manager - Palliative and End of Life Care Services

The Institute for Urban Indigenous Health Ltd (IUIH) was established by its four founding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community Controlled member organisations in 2009 to provide a coordinated and integrated approach to the planning, development and delivery of comprehensive primary health care services in the Southeast Qld Region. IUIH is Australia’s largest Aboriginal Community Controlled Health organisation, responding to the needs of Australia’s largest and fastest growing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander population.

The Quality and Innovation Unit provides leadership in the development, implementation and evaluation of plans, programs, models and policies for improving Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health and Well-being. The Unit will develop and manage to maturity; enhanced service delivery models in new and expanded functional IUIH services and programs.

About the Role?

As the manager of the Palliative Care and End of Life Services you will be responsible for leading a culturally safe and comprehensive Palliative Care and End of Life service within the IUIH Network allowing for growth & ensuring continuous improvement. It involves overseeing service and workforce development, ensuring high standards of quality, safety, and compliance, managing integration with multidisciplinary teams, engaging clients and broader service providers, and fostering strong internal and external partnerships. The position requires a commitment to ethical conduct, cultural integrity, and evidence-based practice, with a focus on supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and building the capability of Indigenous care providers.

You’ll bring to this role:

* Experience, knowledge and skill in the delivery of Palliative Care and End of Life services
* Passion and commitment to working with and for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander colleagues, families and communities
* Experience and skill in project managing new service establishment and / or service and system redesign and improvement
* Flexibility, adaptability and integrity
* Ability to work sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, their leaders and health professionals, while respecting traditional culture, values and ways of doing business.
* Extensive skills and experience in high-level management, public health and / or health care service delivery in a primary care setting
* High level of passion, knowledge and experience in palliative care and end of life services and service systems
* Demonstrated high level of skill and experience working with teams supporting service implementation, change management and quality improvement
* Demonstrated knowledge of Aboriginal Community Controlled Health services, embracing of the principles and practice of community control
* Enthusiasm and ability to work flexibly and to rapidly adapt to changing environments, including shifting priorities and role requirements

Requirements for employment:

* Criminal History Check or willingness to obtain
* Valid Blue Card (Working with Children)
* Valid Disability Worker Screening Check (Yellow Card)
* Current C Class Drivers Licence (QLD)
