This is an exciting opportunity to work with the largest generator specialist in the South West. You will support the Generator Engineer Foreman and the Rental team in the preparation, testing and repair of large generator sets. This is mainly a depot-based role; however, there will be occasions where it is necessary to travel to site.
Responsibilities
* Service, maintain, and keep large generator sets (500 KVA and above) for the Rental fleet, following manufacturers' recommended service schedules.
* Provide general assistance in the yard, including loading and offloading equipment.
* Drive forklift in the yard as required.
* Re‑book generators into stock when they are returned.
* Carry out servicing and repairs to Power Electrics and customers' equipment off site as and when required.
* Participate in the engineer call‑out rota (currently 1 week in 8), subject to satisfactory training.
* Comply with the Company Health & Safety Policy, keeping work areas tidy.
Qualifications
* Relevant qualification in Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, Diesel Fitting or Plant (e.g., City & Guilds, BTEC or equivalent) OR prior experience and knowledge of generators or large diesel engines.
* Full driving licence essential (towing categories preferred).
* Forklift licence advantageous; training can be provided.
* Previous experience working in a workshop environment advantageous.
* Holder of CSCS card preferred; training can be provided.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Flexible approach to work as the business needs dictate.
