Join Coinford – Groundwork & Concrete Frame Specialists Coinford are industry leaders in groundwork and concrete frame construction, known for delivering excellence across major UK projects. We’re currently seeking an experienced Gangerman to join our team — someone who can lead from the front, operate safely around live services, and help drive site productivity to the highest standards. Key Responsibilities: Lead and manage a small team of groundworkers, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality delivery of all site activities Operate plant and machinery confidently and safely, including lifting operations in line with current legislation and company procedures Carry out and brief daily risk assessments, method statements, and toolbox talks Supervise and assist with drainage, ducting, and service installation works — with particular attention to identifying and working safely around live buried services Oversee setup and use of trench boxes, drag boxes, manhole boxes, and pipe lasers Supervise pipe laying (concrete, clay, plastic), ensuring correct levels, bedding, testing, and reinstatement Manage groundwater and select appropriate pumps and dewatering methods Oversee completion of external works including kerbing, edging, paving, and landscaping Read and interpret technical drawings and site plans, converting site programmes into actionable daily and weekly targets Drive high standards in Quality, Health & Safety, and production by motivating and supporting your team Liaise with Site Management and assist with coordinating sub-contractors to maintain smooth site operations Essential Skills & Qualifications: SSSTS (minimum) – SMSTS desirable Minimum 5 years’ experience in groundworks, with proven leadership experience as a Gangerman Excellent understanding of site safety, risk assessment, and method statement procedures Strong ability to read drawings, plan ahead, and manage workloads effectively Desirable: Additional CPCS/NPORS tickets (e.g. Telehandler, Dumper, Roller) Experience managing multi-skilled gangs or specialist sub-contractors 5–10 years’ industry experience across a variety of civil engineering and groundworks projects Commitment to ongoing training and professional development What We’re Looking For: Reliable, punctual, and professional attitude Strong leadership, communication, and time management skills Commercial awareness and ability to deliver cost-effective results Team player who works well with other trades and supports overall project delivery Right to work in the UK Apply now and build your future with Coinford.
