Riggotts is a long-established national provider of specialist line marking and associated surface preparation services, operating across the UK for large, multi-site, compliance-led organisations including major retailers, logistics and distribution operators, car park operators and facilities management companies. Part of the Tennants Roads & Construction Group, Riggotts operates alongside businesses in road lining, bitumen supply and building products across the UK and Ireland, employing c.65 people with a fleet of over 35 vehicles and specialist application equipment, and delivering sustainable growth through professionalism, accreditation, reliability and long-term customer relationships.
Role Summary
We are seeking an experienced Commercial Manager to support the growth of Riggotts through developing customer relationships, generating new opportunities and coordinating sales and marketing activity. The role includes responsibility for overseeing and supporting the sales team and wider sales activity across the business, acting as the link between the business and its external marketing partners. It is a hands-on role requiring sound commercial judgement and a strong focus on personally generating and converting new business opportunities. The role includes responsibility for developing and winning new business, with a particular focus on larger, multi-site customers.
Key Responsibilities
Sales Leadership and Team Development
* Oversee and support the sales team, helping to set clear expectations, standards and ways of working, while providing guidance to support individual performance and develop team members to ensure the individuals reach their full potential.
* Support a proactive, customer-focused and professional sales culture aligned with the company’s objectives.
* Work closely with the Operations Director and General Manager to ensure sales activity is aligned with operational capability.
Market and Customer Focus
* Support the identification of target sectors and key customers, and identify and pursue new business opportunities, with a focus on larger or multi-site customers where the business can deliver repeatable work.
* Promote the business’s capabilities and strengths to support the development of new and existing customer relationships.
* Maintain awareness of market conditions, customer requirements and competitor activity to support sales activity.
Marketing Coordination and Effectiveness
* Support the coordination of sales and marketing activity, ensuring alignment with sales priorities.
* Work with external marketing partners, providing input and feedback to support effective campaigns.
* Support improved visibility of enquiry sources, campaign performance and conversion into sales opportunities.
Commercial Planning and Reporting
* Contribute to sales forecasting and pipeline planning, providing clear reporting on sales activity and performance.
* Work closely with operational teams to ensure sales activity supports efficient delivery and profitable growth.
* Ensure sales and marketing activity is well coordinated and aligned with business objectives.
Experience and Qualifications
* Experience in a commercial, sales or business development role, ideally within construction, infrastructure or a related sector.
* Experience selling to commercial or multi-site customers, with the ability to engage effectively with key decision-makers.
* Ability to identify and develop sales opportunities and convert them into work, with an understanding of commercial considerations.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence and credibility to represent the business effectively at senior customer and stakeholder level.
* Experience working in a compliance-led or accreditation-driven environment, ideally within line marking, surfacing, highways, facilities management or related sectors.
* Experience working with external marketing agencies or consultants to support targeted market engagement.
* Relevant degree or professional qualification in a commercial, construction or business-related discipline.
