An established and growing organisation is seeking an experienced Accounts Assistant / Credit Controller to join their busy finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated finance professional looking to take ownership of key transactional processes while developing their career within a supportive environment.
Your new role
Reporting to the Head of Accounts, you will play a key role in the day‑to‑day running of the finance function. This is a hands‑on position in a fast‑paced environment, offering variety and responsibility across both credit control and general accounts duties.
Your responsibilities will include:
1. Credit Control – managing the aged debt ledger, proactively chasing outstanding payments, resolving queries and maintaining strong customer relationships
2. Sales Ledger – raising invoices and credit notes, allocating receipts, and supporting month‑end close
3. Purchase Ledger – processing supplier invoices, coding accurately and reconciling supplier statements
4. Bank Reconciliations –pleting daily reconciliations across multiple banks and currencies
5. General Ledger – posting journals, processing expenses and supporting wider finance tasks
6. Providing ad‑hoc support to the Head of Accounts as required
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this role, you will have:
7. 2–3 years’ experience in an accounts assistant, credit control or similar transactional finance role
8. A proven ability to chase and recover debt professionally while maintaining positive customer relationships
9. Strong working knowledge of accounting software, ideally Sage 50 Accounts
10. Confident Excel skills, including formulas, lookups and pivot tables
11. Excellent attention to detail and a high level of numerical accuracy
12. Strongmunication skills and the ability to work effectively with customers, suppliers and colleagues
13. The ability to prioritise workload, meet deadlines and remain calm under pressure
