The Outdoors Project is looking for motivated, energetic individuals to join our team.
We are looking for experienced Childcare/Activity Leaders to join our After School Club team 2 hours a day during term time on Tues, Wed & Thurs.
ADDITIONAL WORK/HOURS: We also have further opportunities to work at weekend birthday parties & school holiday clubs.
The role would suit someone with experience working with Primary school children - in a school or an outdoors/sports/activities setting.
What's it like to work for us:
Our team come from a variety of backgrounds: teachers, teaching assistants, creative industries, circus performers, university students, outdoors activities instructors, & we have some previous club attendees who came to clubs age 9, now working with us age 18 We embrace the variety of skills our team bring. These skill sets are complimented & updated by both our in house training & 3rd party courses.
WHERE: After School Clubs run daily at different locations around Brighton & Hove (mainly Hove).
WHEN: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday. You don't need to be able to commit to every day of the week, we are looking for staff who can commit to at least 2 days a week minimum.
WHAT TIME: Club sessions run for 1 hour, directly after school on school premises. A shift is 2 hours. Exact timings vary depending on school but approx pm (or 4pm - 6pm)
THE ROLE: The weekly activities session is 1 hour, outdoors, with a different activity every week. Each activity session follows a very clear session plan. The weekly club activities vary; some are based on a popular children's themes ie. Harry Potter, Pokemon, Minecraft and activities include; Bush Craft, Survival Skills, Team Games, Nerf and Nature Craft - with the main ingredient FUN
Leaders are responsible for leading the activity and are responsible for sign in/out with an Assistant responsible for helping with supervision of the group. The children book on for a term of activities in advance. Maximum 30 children per group.
START DATE: between now - 10th October (slightly flexible)
REQUIREMENTS:
* We are looking for people who are fun and engaging to give children and parents confidence in the fact that every element of their time with us is being delivered with enthusiasm and care.
* All candidates will need a DBS qualification to work within this job role. This can be obtained on behalf of the successful candidate.
* Preferred by not essential: A teaching qualification, childcare qualification, teaching assisting qualification or experience of and interest in / working towards.
* Desirable but not essential - Previous experience working with Primary age children, Buschraft/Forest School level 3, Outdoors activity leadership.
* Our in-house training program will show you everything you need to know to run the most FUN outdoors sessions.
* A love of the outdoors - our sessions are 100% outdoors year around.
* The ability to work well within a team, follow all safety policies and procedures, communicate, be on time and reliable is essential.
* Enthusiasm, positivity & a FUN attitude.
WAGE: BRIGHTON LIVING WAGE / Assistant: £12.60 p/h / Leader £15 p/h
