The opportunity: To lead the site HR function in the provision of professional guidance, support and input into site management in matters relating to employee relations, engagement activities, recruitment strategy, reviewing and implementing policies/procedures; employment legislations, performance management, statutory compliance, training and development and organisation design. How you will impact Smurfit Westrock: Supporting site management teams on engagement, performance excellence, manager effectiveness and in the provision of the following areas: Employee Relations - Supporting positive culture - Coach and advises managers on all employee relations issues to include informal and formal resolution methods covering matters such as absence, disciplinary and grievances, disputes, managing attendance, capability and performance - To ensure best practice and consistency in line with company procedures - Engaging with unions to promote a positive working relationship - Contributing to in-house negotiations as required with employees, unions and employee representative bodies - Reviewing, updating and implementing statements, policies and procedures as required - Coordinating and supporting meetings Performance Management - Providing line managers with advice on managing performance and the performance management cycle in line with Smurfit Westrock expectations and local site agreements - Administer the PM process ensuring plan is on tracker and objectives are set - Manage the pay review process in line with the Smurfit Westrock compensation and benefits model - Administer any incremental changes in line with planned training, collective agreements/negotiations and participate in the annual salary review process Recruitment & Selection - Preparation of job descriptions and specifications - Designing and placing of appropriate advertisements and monitoring their effectiveness - Short listing where required and organizing the appropriate selection method - Conducting Interviews / Tests / Assessments - Taking up references, drafting offer letters and issuing terms and conditions of employment - Coordinate induction and onboarding programmes Talent Management - Building capability of managers - Review talent process, succession planning and putting together bespoke training plans for high performing individuals and critical roles Training - Facilitating the identification of training needs, designing training programmes and implementation of plans including statutory training for HR, H&S and Quality - Advising managers and supervisors on training issues and needs - Driving development and sourcing training providers at all levels including management development - Arranging and delivering induction training and ad hoc training as required - Achieving and maintaining Investors in People Accreditation - Setting up and managing in-house and external training programmes, maximizing grants and levy opportunities Compliance - Support legal or official requests - Ensure compliance with legislation - Support external awards ad certifications including leading IiP Strategy - To participate in projects to remedy issues HR Systems - Managing HR Data systems (including new employees, changes to existing employees and leavers) - Ensuring data integrity & accuracy - Compliance with GDPR and appropriate best practice regarding confidential information - Reporting - Monitoring absence and providing data to payroll - Preparing and presenting HR KPI\u2019s to site leadership teams with relevant actions and improvement initiatives Administration - Maintaining employee records and updating the HR system as required - Managing HR systems and coordinating workflows to raise changes and ensure this is completed in an accurate and timely manner - Responsibility for monitoring processes and liaising with departmental managers to ensure compliance & completion Skills, Experience and Qualifications required: - Minimum up to 2 years in a similar HR role - Good verbal and written presentation/communication skills - Knowledge of current employment law - IT Literate in use of Microsoft Office - Exposure to a unionised environment is desirable - Relevant experience in a similar role - Demonstrable good communication and interpersonal skills and evidence of good working relationships internally and possess professional poise when representing the company in front of auditors and visitors - Demonstrable evidence of information handling ability and problem-solving skills - Ability to organize and plan - CIPD qualified ideally level 5 or working towards What we offer: - Corporate culture based on loyalty, integrity and respect - An attractive salary reflecting skills, competencies and potential - Comprehensive training with numerous learning and development opportunities - A career with a global packaging company where sustainability, safety and inclusion are business drivers and foundational elements of the daily work Smurfit Westrock (NYSE:SW) is a global leader in sustainable paper and packaging solutions.
