Position Overview
Band 3 Rehabilitation Assistant – Stroke Team at Trafford Hospital. The role involves supporting registered therapists and contributing to patient discharge and weekly therapy sessions.
Key Responsibilities
* Assist physiotherapists, occupational therapists and speech therapists in delivering rehabilitation interventions to stroke patients.
* Work directly with patients to carry out treatment programmes directed by therapists, report outcomes and progress.
* Participate in multidisciplinary handovers, share and receive information with the therapy team.
* Motivate and encourage patients to maximise their rehabilitation potential.
* Manage own caseload, maintain accurate documentation and provide regular updates to the team.
* Carry out administrative tasks, including note writing, data collection for audit purposes and general IT functions.
* Perform equipment management, cleaning duties and support the weekend service where required.
* Assist with patient transfer and handling, ensuring safe and effective movement of patients.
Qualifications & Skills
* Previously worked in a hospital ward or similar healthcare setting.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills with patients, families and multidisciplinary colleagues.
* Empathetic and compassionate approach to patient care.
* Ability to motivate patients and promote participation in therapy activities.
* Proficiency in basic computer use and data recording.
* Demonstrated capability to work independently under direction of qualified therapists.
* Willingness to learn and develop new skills and adapt to changing service needs.
