For applicants from Regional Forces, you will be seconded to SWROCU under the Joint Services Agreement and remain on your home‑force terms and conditions and graded pay scale.
About the Role
We’re excited to be recruiting an HR Advisor to join the South West Regional Collaborations (SWRC) HR team. This newly created role offers a fantastic opportunity for someone ready to step in, make it their own, and help shape how HR is delivered across this unique and vital part of the collaborations.
As HR Advisor, you’ll provide dedicated HR support to South West Regional Organised Crime Unit (SWROCU) and South West Forensics, two specialist areas delivering critical services across the region. This is a true generalist HR role with a strong operational focus. Managing a varied workload, you’ll support managers and staff with day‑to‑day HR matters, while ensuring consistency, fairness, and quality in everything you do.
A key emphasis of the role will be casework, alongside a strong focus on HR data – using insight and analysis to inform decision‑making, identify trends, and continuously improve how services are delivered.
Key Responsibilities
* Providing frontline HR advice and support across a range of generalist HR activities
* Managing and supporting low‑level casework (including absence, conduct, and performance matters)
* Producing, analysing, and interpreting HR data to support operational and strategic decision‑making
* Contributing to continuous improvement of HR processes and ways of working
* Building strong, trusted relationships with stakeholders across SWROCU and South West Forensics

You’ll be an HR professional with experience in a generalist HR role, confident in handling casework at an appropriate level and comfortable working with HR data. Essential Skills, Experience and Qualifications
* Minimum of one year’s experience working in a customer‑focused HR environment providing information and general advice, or Level 3 CIPD qualified (or equivalent)
* IT literate, including working knowledge of software/databases/Microsoft Office
* Ability to prioritise using organisational skills
* Effective communication skills both written and oral
* Excellent administration skills with high attention to detail to manage information and data
* Ability to problem‑solve and work on own initiative
* Customer care focused
* Ability to influence and persuade
* Demonstrates continued professional development in HR knowledge
