Who You Are You are an admitted Solicitor, Barrister, or Fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives with a right of audience in all proceedings in the County Court or are about to gain such rights. You have recent experience in advocacy within County and Magistrates' Courts and have a background in commercial and residential property work. Preferably, you've worked in Local Government. You possess excellent communication skills, both oral and written, and can express opinions clearly and logically. You are adaptable, responsible, and dedicated to delivering results, with a positive attitude towards adopting new work practices. You work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines with efficiency and effectiveness. What the Job Involves As a Property Lawyer, you will engage in a full range of conveyancing responsibilities for the Council. This includes handling complex acquisitions, disposals, sale agreements, and charges. You will manage correspondence regarding easements, boundaries, and restrictive covenants and oversee compulsory purchase orders, ensuring timely completion of related tasks. Additionally, you will prepare legal documents, undertake legal research, conduct court cases, and serve as the Council's representative in various legal proceedings. You will also consult with relevant parties on tenant resettlement, compensation claims, and policy development within the housing and property team. You are responsible for continuous improvement and financial resource management, understanding your contribution to the team plan, and assisting with the induction and support of new staff.
