An exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced band 6 Midwife who has completed their preceptorship, to join us as a rotational midwife rotating between both our NHS Maternity wards and our private care team on the Westminster Private Maternity Suite, both based at St Thomas Hospital.
This unique and exciting opportunity will ensure all midwifery skills can be utilised and the candidate will gain exposure working in and developing private maternity care services, while also continuing their work as an NHS midwife in a large and successful tertiary maternity unit. Good all round midwifery knowledge is essential for this role.
Our Maternity wards consist of our High Risk Hospital Birth Centre, Our Enhanced Maternity Care Unit, Antenatal and Postnatal wards, Home from Home birthing Centre and Maternity Assessment Unit.
The Westminster Private Maternity Suite contains 6 in-patient beds with additional out-patient clinic space. Midwives working on the Westminster team provide antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal care for their women, birthing people and families, allowing the midwife to practice all round holistic family centred care.
The successful candidate will work closely with Obstetricians, the wider Westminster team, the Maternity Practice Leaders, Matrons and the Lead Midwife for Inpatients.
The successful candidate will be passionate about providing a high standard of care to the women and families using our NHS and private maternity services. This post requires a flexible approach to working and the ability to assess, plan and implement care in a timely manner. You will be comfortable and adaptable working within a multidisciplinary team, to provide women with high quality care 24 hours a day.
This post requires midwives to undertake all aspects of antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal care. Antenatal and postnatal care is provided to women within our dedicated private maternity suite whilst intrapartum care takes place under joint care on the main Hospital Birth Centre (Delivery suite) within St Thomas' Hospital.
The successful midwife will provide high quality and effective care to women who have chosen to have either NHS or private care during their pregnancy journey, ensuring that all families are cared for compassionately and sensitively.
Responsibilities
* Ensure that families are cared for appropriately in a timely manner and have individualised plans of care that are documented and agreed with the women, considering the woman's holistic, cultural and individual needs.
* Be flexible in his/her care of women and be aware that based on unit requirements, on occasion, his/her skills may be required in other ward areas within St Thomas' maternity unit.
