We are looking for a passionate, energetic, and dedicated EYFS Teaching Assistant to join our team and help shape the future of our Reception children.
Salary: Kent Scheme Salary Scale (Pro-rata, Term-Time Only)
Hours: 8:30am – 3:15pm, Monday to Friday (Includes a 30-minute unpaid lunch break) as total of 31.5hrs per week.
Contract: Term-time only (plus select INSET days)
Pay: £13.56 per hour, which equates to £19,012.68 per annum.
This contract is for a fixed term period of 1 academic year, with the possibliity of it being made permenant.
The Role
As an EYFS Teaching Assistant, you won't just be managing a classroom; you will be an active partner in a child's development. You will work closely with the class teacher to deliver a rich, play-based curriculum that sparks imagination and builds foundational skills.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Support and extend child-initiated play, turning everyday moments into rich learning opportunities.
2. Demonstrate a solid understanding of the EYFS Statutory Framework to help track progress and support next steps in learning.
3. Encourage children to play and explore, active learn, and create and think critically.
4. Create a safe, warm, and secure environment for our children, while fostering open, positive communication with parents and carers.
5. Keep children motivated, focused, and excited about their daily adventures in the classroom and outdoor learning areas.
About You
We are looking for someone who genuinely loves working with early years children and understands the unique magic (and organized chaos!) of an EYFS classroom.
Essential Qualities & Skills:
6. A strong, working knowledge of the EYFS curriculum and how young children develop.
7. You are patient, warm, incredibly resilient, and not afraid to get stuck into messy play or outdoor learning in all weathers.
8. Ability to connect effortlessly with 4- and 5-year-olds, as well as collaborate professionally with staff and families.
9. Someone who sees an opportunity to enhance a game or support a frustrated child and steps in with empathy and tact.
10. A relevant NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Childcare/Education (or equivalent experience) is highly desirable.
