Description
The job itself
A personal assistant is required to support a young individual with hemiplegia, epilepsy, and autistic traits. This person uses a buggy due to instability when walking and occasional difficulty moving around. Seizures are very rare and typically occur only during periods of illness. Support will be provided as part of a 2:1 team.
The individual is non‑verbal but communicates needs through sounds and babbling. They are very active and enjoy engaging in activities such as trampolining, visiting outdoor parks, and exploring scenic walking areas. They also benefit from sensory experiences, including musical toys and other tactile items. They do not enjoy busy environments, loud noises, or certain playground equipment such as swings and rides.
Due to the nature of the role, applicants should have experience in SEN support and be comfortable delivering personal care. A driving licence is welcomed but not essential. The family is able to travel to the personal assistant for sessions.
