RELIEF Retail Security Officer
Locations: High Wycombe, Slough, Aylesbury, Oxford area
Pay: £13.97 per hour
Minimum one year security experience, retail experience essential, full UK driving licence with own vehicle (travel includes around 30 miles radius each way). Various shifts: Monday‑Saturday 08:00‑22:00, Sunday 10:00‑17:00. Must be flexible to work any day/time. Minimum 8‑hour contract. Provide safety and security to customers’ property, people and/or assets in line with Published Assignment Instructions, delivering results that meet and/or exceed Key Performance Indicators. Provide exceptional customer service to staff and visitors alike and undertake additional training to ensure continuous self‑development, upholding Mitie and client reputation. As this is a relief role covering sickness and holiday absences, you must be flexible in terms of days worked and pick up shifts at short notice.
Main Duties
* Use ASCONE to maintain the security of the site
* Conduct regular patrols of the site
* Deliver customer service to both staff and visitors.
* Support the staff with any reasonable request.
* Ensure the relevant reports are completed in order for accurate information to be recorded.
Training
For this role, you will be required to fully and satisfactorily complete all required competency training, as well as undertake additional training to ensure continuous self‑development as directed by the Operations Manager. You are required to ensure you renew your licence 16 weeks before expiry.
Security and Health & Safety
* Look out for, and immediately report, any health & safety hazards or potential hazards, on site.
* Stay alert to any threats or changes within the work environment in order to take the appropriate action to reduce the chance of disruption, loss or damage, whilst using common sense and initiative to ensure the situation does not become threatening.
* Being proactive and reactive when delivering customer service to diffuse situations and avoid escalation.
* Maintain professional conduct in the face of difficult situations and challenging customers.
* Complete an accurate and detailed entry of any incidents that occur on the system provided on site.
* Call emergency services and control room to report all serious incidents.
Qualifications and Requirements
* Valid Door Supervisor SIA Licence.
* Excellent customer service skills.
* Ability to make instant, positive connections with store teams.
* Self‑starter, can act without direction.
* Report writing skills essential.
* Excellent communication skills.
* Ability to work well under pressure.
