Helping young people take that first step into the world of work isn’t always straightforward, but it can be life-changing. Supply Hive are working alongside a specialist post-16 provision in Reading who support young people aged 16–25 with SEND and SEMH needs. Many of their learners are close to being work-ready but need the right guidance, structure, and encouragement to get there. This role sits within an employability programme designed to build confidence, resilience, and real-world skills. You’ll be supporting learners who may not have had the best experience in education, helping them understand workplace expectations and develop the mindset needed to succeed. You’ll be delivering practical, engaging sessions focused on communication, teamwork, independence, and job readiness, while also preparing learners for work experience and employment opportunities. Responsibilities Plan and deliver engaging 1:1 and small group employability sessions Adapt learning to suit individual needs, confidence levels, and learning styles Support communication, teamwork, and workplace behaviours Help learners prepare for employment through CV writing, mock interviews, and job searching Deliver practical sessions focused on real-life skills and independence Build confidence, resilience, and motivation in learners Track and record progress, engagement, and outcomes Work closely with colleagues to create a supportive learning environment Support onboarding, reviews, and learner target setting Requirements Experience working with young people (education, tutoring, youth work, coaching or similar), ideally with SEND/SEMH Strong relationship-building skills and the ability to engage and motivate learners Confidence delivering practical, skills-based sessions A calm, empathetic and consistent approach Flexibility to adapt to different learners and situations Strong communication and teamwork skills Good organisation and record-keeping Basic IT skills and willingness to learn new systems A genuine passion for supporting young people into employment and independence At Supply Hive, safeguarding is a top priority.
