Onboarding Manager at Balfour Beatty plc
Balfour Beatty Highways business has a terrific opportunity for an Onboarding Manager to join our £1.2 billion Lower Thames Crossing project, consisting of 43 bridges, including viaducts, 17km of complex Highways construction, complex utility diversions, and a scheme-wide, industry-leading approach to carbon reduction.
We provide high-quality asset strategy, management and planning consultancy services to a wide range of public and private sector customers. We provide specialist, reliable, sustainable and creative advice for asset management planning and implementation in the UK. We put our customers first and prioritise completing schemes safely, efficiently and to a high standard.
As an Onboarding Manager, you will be tasked to deliver an exceptional onboarding experience for new hires by coordinating and managing all aspects of the onboarding process, ensuring new starters are integrated into Lower Thames Crossing, as well as supporting the wider Balfour Beatty Highways business efficiently and effectively.
What you'll be doing
* Design and develop an induction process for new starters and subcontractors joining Lower Thames Crossing & the BB Highways business
* Conduct induction sessions and introduce new hires to Lower Thames Crossing & the Balfour Beatty Highways business and culture
* Take the lead of ensuring new candidates are properly on-boarded to the business
* Work with the line managers and other support functions to ensure all aspects are covered off throughout the process
* Provide support and assistance to all new colleagues
* Have check-in points prior to candidates start date
* Continuously improve the onboarding process based on feedback and best practice
* Support and coach line managers in the process for the candidate to have the best on-boarding experience
* Ensure an effective interface with candidates and line manager is maintained
Who we're looking for
* Previous experience in HR or onboarding coordination preferred
* Experience in construction or infrastructure is preferred
* Project management skills preferred
* Excellent organisational and communication skills
* Ability to multitask effectively
* Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships.
* Problem-solving skills and the ability to handle unexpected situations
* Team player with a collaborative approach
