Role
As a Healthcare Support Worker within NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, you will play a vital role in delivering compassionate, person‑centred care to patients within our Older People and Stroke Rehabilitation & Assessment services. Working as part of a supportive multidisciplinary team, you will assist registered nurses to ensure patients receive safe, effective and dignified care throughout their hospital journey.
Duration, Location and Working Pattern
Permanent – Royal Alexandra Hospital – 35.5 Hours (Shift Pattern – Monday‑Sunday). Salary is Pro Rata for part‑time hours.
Responsibilities
* Assist patients with personal care, including hygiene, dressing and mobility needs.
* Support patients with nutritional and fluid intake as required or prescribed.
* Observe and report any changes in patient condition to the registered nurse.
* Assist with admission, transfer and discharge processes in line with procedures.
* Undertake basic clinical tasks such as urinalysis and specimen collection.
* Maintain accurate patient records, including charts and care documentation.
* Ensure clinical areas, equipment and supplies are clean, safe and well‑maintained.
Qualifications
* Good standard of general education.
* Strong verbal communication skills with a caring and respectful approach.
* Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
* Commitment to delivering high standards of patient care.
* Willingness to learn and develop within a clinical environment.
* Understanding of basic health and safety principles in a care setting.
* Ability to follow instructions and work under supervision within established procedures.
