Role
This position is designed as a developmental (training) opportunity and will suit individuals with experience within administration, technical or research environments who wish to apply their expertise as a foundation for transitioning into a Fire, Health and Safety (H&S) role.
The primary purpose of this role is to support the University Fire and Infrastructure Advisor (UFIA) in assuring that the responsible / nominated person(s) comply with the relevant fire safety legislation, building regulations, university policy and standards at the University of York.
There are two positions available.
Skills, Experience & Qualification needed
1. Demonstrable substantial experience of working within higher education or similar complex organizations with strong knowledge of risk management processes.
2. A certification in fire, health and safety (e.g. NEBOSH) or willingness to work towards it.
3. Certified Fire Risk Assessor, or willingness to undertake training and development to attain one.
4. Accredited with a recognised fire safety professional body, or willingness to undertake training and development to attain one.
5. Taking responsibility for delivering defined work initiatives
6. Gather, analyse, interpret and report data/information
7. Use of digital technologies relevant to the role
8. Communicate effectively in verbal and written formats, including the use of a variety of digital tools
