What we do
We put our Customers and Families First. They are the driving force behind everything we do. We drive forward improvements for them to ensure the service they receive, whether reactive repairs or a major project, is completed safely and on time. In order to achieve this, we have 4 core values: open, caring, agile and collaborative. These are at the heart of everything we do.
Location: DSTL, Salisbury - 2 days per week working from home
Salary: Competitive
Permanent, full time
We are looking for a driven and commercially minded Supply Chain Manager to take ownership of the supply chain across two high-profile facilities management contracts supporting the Defence Science & Technology Laboratories (DSTL) and the Reserve Forces and Cadets Association (RFCA). Based primarily at DSTL Porton Down, this role offers the opportunity to shape supply chain strategy, strengthen supplier performance and drive improvements in efficiency, quality and innovation.
Working closely with operational, technical and sustainability teams, you will support the delivery of best-value services across the contracts through effective procurement, supplier management and data-led decision making. You will play a key role in developing and implementing supply chain strategies, reviewing specifications and statements of work, and ensuring that goods and services meet contractual, operational and governance requirements.
You will manage key supplier relationships, monitoring performance against KPIs and service level expectations, and leading regular supplier review meetings alongside technical colleagues. Where required, you will source and onboard new suppliers, managing the process end-to-end from market engagement and benchmarking through to negotiation and implementation. You will also identify opportunities for savings, innovation and continuous improvement, while ensuring suppliers align with VIVO's values, sustainability commitments and client expectations.
A strong analytical mindset will be essential, as you will provide accurate data, reports and insight on purchasing activity, supplier performance and inventory to support management, budgetary and commercial reviews. You will work collaboratively across the business, building trusted relationships and acting as a reliable adviser to operational teams.
This is not a goods and materials role, you must have experience of procurement of services.
About you
You will have experience in procurement or supply chain management, ideally within a facilities management or service-based environment, and be confident managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting. You will be highly organised, detail-focused and comfortable working with data, systems and reporting tools to support informed decision making.
Strong communication and relationship-management skills are essential, along with the resilience and confidence to engage with stakeholders at all levels. You will understand the importance of governance and compliance, following approval processes and ensuring stakeholders are engaged in supply chain decisions. A proactive, self-starting approach is key, as this role requires a high degree of autonomy while working as part of a wider procurement and operational team.
Due to the nature of the contracts, the successful candidate must be a UK national, able to achieve a minimum of SC security clearance, and willing to travel occasionally to other VIVO locations as required.
What We Offer:
1. 6% employee matched pension contribution
2. 25 days annual leave
3. Single private medical cover
4. Life assurance 2x annual salary
5. 1 professional subscription per year
