Job Purpose
To ensure that all areas of Beginnings Day Nursery are cleaned to a high standard and to facilitate maintenance across areas of responsibility.
Duties and Responsibilities
* Responsibility for the cleaning and upkeep of the nursery site.
* Ensuring standards of safety, cleanliness and tidiness are maintained and monitored.
* To carry out spot and emergency cleaning which may be necessary to maintain hygiene standards.
* Convey waste produce to the appropriate central refuse area as required.
* To ensure ample supplies of cleaning materials, etc. are available and, if required, notify Line Manager if reordering is necessary.
* To sort out any minor problems which occur from time to time and to report any major problems to the Facilities Manager.
* Ensuring consumables/cleaning products are ordered and well stocked etc.
* To clean corridors, stairs, common areas, toilets/showers/bathrooms, offices, kitchens and meeting/ function rooms.
* Assist with laundry.
* To report to the Facilities Manager with maintenance needs in the building.
* To carry out any other duties within the scope of the post as directed.

It is very important that the Lincolnshire YMCA maintains a high standard of cleanliness. We seek to assist younger people to become independent members of the community and show by example acceptable standards of household management for their guidance. When members of the YMCA staff take a pride in their work we hope that this will rub off on our residents and we ask you to bear this in mind as you carry out your day to day duties.
Responsible for own workload on a daily, weekly or less frequent basis as appropriate.
The post holder is required to inform the Facilities Manager of any physical risks that impact on health and safety within the hostel.
Person Specification
Knowledge
* Safe manual handling
* Awareness and understanding of best practice in terms of health and
* Understanding of the appropriate cleaning materials for any given
* An understanding of appropriate methods for the disposal of waste materials and
* An understanding of COSHH.
Essential
* Full clean driving licence and access to a vehicle
* Willing to travel (travel expenses provided subject to policy & contract)
* Previous experience of cleaning commercial environments
Skills and Abilities
* Ability to prioritise own work in keeping with agreed norms and to be self-managing to ensure delivery.
* Ability to recognise potential health and safety hazards to self, other staff, residents and members of the public.
* Ability to use stock appropriately and to ensure replenishment is timely and cost effective.
