This role plays an essential part in the smooth running of the school day. Role Overview The Midday Meal Supervisor is responsible for the supervision, safety, and welfare of pupils during the lunchtime period. This includes time spent in dining areas, corridors, playgrounds, and classrooms where indoor activities may take place. You will work under the guidance of the school’s senior lunchtime supervisor or designated member of staff and follow established school policies and procedures at all times. While the hours are short, the impact of the role is significant. Key Duties and Responsibilities The successful candidate will be expected to carry out a range of duties, including: Supervising pupils during meal times, ensuring safe and orderly behaviour Supporting children with eating, particularly younger pupils, where appropriate Encouraging good table manners and respectful conduct Ensuring pupils with allergies or specific dietary needs are monitored correctly Managing entry to and exit from dining areas in a calm and organised manner Supervising pupils during outdoor play, ensuring safe use of equipment Leading or encouraging appropriate playground activities Monitoring pupil interactions and addressing minor behaviour issues fairly De-escalating low-level conflict and promoting positive behaviour Supporting inclusive play and ensuring no child is isolated Remaining vigilant to potential hazards and acting proactively to prevent accidents Providing basic first aid in line with training received Reporting incidents, concerns, or safeguarding issues to the appropriate staff member Upholding school policies related to behaviour, safeguarding, and health and safety Candidate Requirements MDMS is looking for individuals who demonstrate professionalism, reliability, and a genuine interest in working with children. While prior experience in a school or childcare setting is beneficial, it is not essential.
