Job Overview

Are you an experienced Therapy Support Worker or do you already hold an Assistant Practitioner qualification?

Do you want to grow your clinical skills and make a meaningful impact in providing highquality therapy within a supportive subacute inpatient setting?

If the answer is yes, we are seeking a motivated and compassionate Band 4 Therapy Assistant Practitioner to join our friendly and dedicated team on Dalgleish Ward at Melton Mowbray Hospital.

Dalgleish Ward is a 17bed unit offering sub-acute care and rehabilitation, supported by an experienced multidisciplinary therapy team including Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, and Therapy Support Workers. You will be working in a collaborative environment where your contribution is truly valued. Free onsite parking is available for all staff.

This is a fulltime role, currently operating Monday to Friday within sociable working hours, with the potential to develop into a 7day service in the future.

Job Description Summary (Main duties and responsibilities)

What You Will Do

* Deliver therapy assessments and interventions to individuals and groups, using therapeutic handling and assessment skills.
* Support patient rehabilitation programmes and adapt treatments within defined guidelines.
* Communicate effectively with patients, families, carers and the wider MDT, often about complex or sensitive information.
* Manage your own caseload, prioritising effectively to support service delivery.
* Contribute to staff training, service development projects, audit and continuous quality improvement.
* Maintain accurate clinical documentation in line with Trust and professional standards.
* Support the induction of new staff, students and colleagues.
* Complete occasional access visits to patients' home's to support safe discharge from hospital.
* Occasionally support our other inpatient therapy teams, such as Rutland ward, which is 20 minutes' drive from site.

About You

We are looking for someone who:

* Has previous experience in a health care setting, ideally within a therapy role.
* Holds Level 2 functional skills in Maths and English or equivalent.
* Has either already completed AP training [or equivalent] or willing to complete a 2-year foundation degree once in post.
* Demonstrates strong communication, organisational and clinical reasoning skills.
* Can work independently within a structured clinical framework.
* Is compassionate, adaptable, and able to support patients with complex health needs.
* Shows commitment to professional development, reflective practice and ongoing learning.
* Able to drive and has access to a vehicle for work.
