Job Summary
We are seeking a talented and passionate Sous Chef to join our small kitchen team at Ranfield's Brasserie. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in supporting Head Chef James Self in managing kitchen operations, ensuring the highest standards of food quality and safety. This position requires strong culinary skills, leadership abilities, and a commitment to delivering exceptional dining experiences in a fast-paced restaurant environment.
Duties
* Supervise kitchen staff, providing guidance and support to ensure efficient food preparation and presentation.
* Oversee daily kitchen operations, including inventory management, food safety compliance, and cleanliness of work areas.
* Train new kitchen staff on cooking techniques, food safety practices, and restaurant policies.
* Collaborate with team members to maintain high standards of food quality and consistency.
* Monitor portion control and minimise waste to contribute to cost-effective kitchen operations.
* Ensure all dishes are prepared according to recipes and presentation standards before serving.
* Handle any issues that arise within the kitchen promptly and effectively to maintain a harmonious working environment.
Qualifications
* Proven experience as a Sous Chef or in a similar role within a restaurant setting.
* Strong culinary skills with a deep understanding of food preparation techniques and presentation.
* Excellent leadership abilities with experience in team management and staff supervision.
* Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices for maintaining hygiene standards in the kitchen.
* Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
* Strong communication skills, fostering collaboration within the kitchen team.
