We are seeking a compassionate Healthcare Support Worker to join our dynamic team in Admissions Unit One at Victoria Hospital, Kirkcaldy. This fast-paced unit plays a vital role in the initial assessment and care of patients admitted to hospital, offering a varied and rewarding environment for those passionate about patient care.
As a Band 3 HCSW, you will work closely with registered nurses and the wider multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality, person-centred care. You will be involved in clinical observations, supporting patients with personal care, assisting with mobility, and contributing to the smooth running of the unit.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide direct patient care in line with individual care plans.
Carry out clinical observations and accurately record findings.
Support patients with activities of daily living, including hygiene, nutrition, and mobility.
Assist in the admission and discharge process.
Maintain a clean and safe environment in accordance with infection control policies.
Communicate effectively with patients, families, and colleagues.
What were looking for:
Previous experience in a healthcare setting is essential.
SVQ Level 2 or equivalent in Health and Social Care (or willingness to work towards).
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work effectively in a busy, team-oriented environment.

If successful in your application, you will be offered the opportunity to undertake an SVQ2 or SVQ3 (dependent on band) in Health and Social Care, approximately 9 months after taking up post. It is expected that you complete this qualification, which will be fully funded by NHS Fife. Your Line Manager will provide you with more information once you are in post.
