About the role
We have an exciting opportunity to become our Metering Strategy and Technical Operations Manager in our Metering Operations function.
This role is pivotal in the development and implementation of our 10-year strategic and tactical smart meter deployment plan for both Northumbrian and Essex & Suffolk Water, to ensure we achieve our ambition of being industry leading.
You will be accountable for a specialist team covering planning and policy development; performance reporting and decision support; financial reconciliation, commercial management of metering related contracts and the technical audit and quality assurance of our install partners.
We’re looking for you to help us drive operational performance against strategic metering targets. Working collaboratively with the wider Metering Operations Management Team to maximise the impact of metering while also driving end to end continuous improvement and optimising cost to serve across both direct and indirect resource.
You will lead on building relationships between strategic projects across NWG where metering has the opportunity to deliver impact, such as leakage and customer consumption, as well as developing strong and effective relationships with industry peers and commercial partners. You will continuously scan the water market and look for external inspiration to ensure the organisation is at the forefront of metering best practice and innovation.
Please note - The role can be based in either our Head Office in Essex or Durham.
About you
To be successful in this new role, we’re looking for you to have a proven experience in working in a strategy or long-term planning role with responsibility for setting the direction of travel and measuring performance against it. You will be comfortable managing projects that cut across teams and departments to support strategic outcomes.
We’re looking for you to demonstrate a track record of managing key supplier relationships and resolving commercial disputes, as well as experience of driving real time solutions to escalated events or problem solving where the route to resolution might not be clear and defined.
You’ll have experience of working collaboratively to drive exceptional performance against targets influencing others who work directly and indirectly with you to deliver against common goals.
You’ll have excellent data analysis and written/verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact at all levels of internal and external stakeholders. You will understand data, how to interpret it and how to present it in an easy-to-understand format.
You will be comfortable making decisions and providing insight, analysis and recommendations to allow others to make decisions.
