Graduate Teaching Assistant & Cover Supervisor Opportunities - September Start

Location: Secondary Schools Across Birmingham

Contract Type: Full-time, Term Time Only

Hours: Monday - Friday | 8:15am - 3:30pm

Start Date: September 2025

Are you a recent graduate looking to take your first step into education? Or an experienced Cover Supervisor ready for a new opportunity? We are working in close partnership with a large, highly respected multi-academy trust of secondary schools across Birmingham, and we are recruiting for full-time Graduate Teaching Assistants and Cover Supervisors to join their teams this September.

The schools in this trust are known for their inclusive, community-focused ethos and commitment to developing both students and staff. With a network of secondary schools across multiple Birmingham neighborhoods, including Bournville, Erdington, & Sutton Coldfield, there is a strong likelihood of placement near your residence.

Each school within the trust has its own unique character, but all share the same values:

* Outstanding pastoral care

* A relentless focus on student progress and inclusion

* Highly supportive leadership and mentoring structures

* A clear path for career development and permanent opportunities

Graduate Teaching Assistant (TA):

As a TA, you'll work closely with teaching staff to support students in and out of the classroom, particularly those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). You may be assigned to a specific year group or department and will often work 1:1 or with small groups. This role is ideal for graduates seeking school-based experience before pursuing teacher training or educational psychology.

Experience required: Prior classroom experience is essential, ideally in supporting roles with SEND students.

Cover Supervisor:

As a Cover Supervisor, you'll deliver lessons in the absence of the regular teacher. Using provided lesson plans, you'll manage the classroom, keep students engaged, and ensure work completion. This role requires confidence, resilience, and strong classroom management skills.

Experience required: You must have prior experience leading a classroom, whether through previous Cover Supervisor roles, working as an HLTA, or teaching experience (qualified or unqualified).

Roles within a supportive and forward-thinking trust of schools.
