An exciting opportunity has arisen within Southampton Children’s Hospital’s Children’s Respiratory Team for a dedicated registered paediatric nurse with leadership qualities to join our friendly, supportive multidisciplinary team as a Children’s Cystic Fibrosis/Respiratory Nurse Specialist. This is a part‑time role offering flexibility, which can be discussed during the interview process.
What You’ll Do
* Work within the multidisciplinary team to deliver excellent care to patients on an inpatient, day case and outpatient basis both locally and regionally.
* Act as a role model to nursing staff, encouraging effective working relationships and development of a cohesive nursing team.
* Assess, plan, implement and evaluate care of patients and their families.
* Offer telephone advice to families and professionals across the region.
* Deliver parent education for children and families with respiratory conditions.
* Deliver education to professionals locally and regionally.
* Support the delivery of nurse‑led clinic’s.

Post qualifying experience in a relevant specialty which includes working in an acute paediatric environment is essential. You will be expected to show good coordination and leadership skills participating in workload planning and coordination of care of patients within our caseload.
This is a part‑time role and offers flexibility which can be discussed at interview. The role requires travel to and from clinics and visits; therefore the ability to travel and a driving licence would be required.

Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience
Essential Criteria
* Registered nurse on relevant part of the NMC register
* Level 7 Post Grad Cert (Min 60 Credits), Master’s Degree within relevant speciality or equivalent knowledge to be assessed through evidence of relevant speciality training, experience or portfolio
* Specialist training / Qualification in area of practice
* Provide evidence of leading learning in practice
* Evidence of experience and completion of all band 6 competencies within relevant speciality
* Specialist clinical skills and experience within specialist area
* Evidence of change Management, leadership and innovation
* Clinical experience at Band 6 or equivalent within relevant speciality
* Provide evidence of supporting colleagues to promote learning in practice providing an excellent learning environment for all
* Provide evidence of supporting / managing and supervision of a range of learnings in practice
Desirable Criteria
* Counselling / advanced communication skills qualification / training
* Act in the role of Practice Assessor or supporting the progression of learners / supporting challenges as needed
* Multidisciplinary team working
* Experience of nurse‑led care / clinics in own practice
* Team leadership role
* Awareness of own leadership skills/style
* Registered as an independent prescriber
