Join to apply for the Apprentice Pharmacy Technician role at University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust.
To train via an apprenticeship of BTEC Level 3 in the principles and practice for pharmacy technicians, then enrol and register as a GPhC registered pharmacy technician.
Technicians working within the trust aim to improve the quality of patient care through efficient medicines management, including drug history taking, medicines reconciliation, facilitation of patients' own drugs, one-stop dispensing, patient counselling on discharge medicines, and discharge coordination.
Interviews will be held on the 21st and 23rd July 2025.
***Preference will be given to internal Trust staff, as well as ‘Priority’ and 'At Risk' status including NHS At Risk staff throughout Devon who can demonstrate recent relevant experience as dictated by the Person Specification.***
To work in all areas of the department in a training capacity and under supervision, to learn skills and knowledge, and to become familiar with department policies and procedures.
To gain experience in applying theoretical knowledge to practical skills, with work subject to continuous assessment. A portfolio of evidence will be produced to demonstrate competence.
To undertake general dispensary duties in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures and within the legal framework.
To assist in maintaining optimal stock levels within the dispensary, liaising with patients, colleagues, and ward staff to meet immediate and future needs.
To use the pharmacy computer system efficiently.
To participate in departmental team meetings regarding procedures and practices.
To undertake general technical service duties, including:
* Production of cytotoxic drugs, intravenous antibiotics, total parenteral nutrition, and non-sterile products.
* Preparation of worksheets.
* Generation of accurate medication labels.
* Preparation of products in aseptic suite.
Participation in weekend, bank holiday, and late-night rotas as required.
