Role of a Supply Teacher:
* Your primary responsibility is to step in for regular teachers who are absent due to illness, professional development, or other reasons. You may be assigned to teach a specific subject or year group according to your expertise and the school's needs.
* You will plan and deliver lessons based on the curriculum requirements, ensuring that learning objectives are met and engaging students in meaningful learning activities. Flexibility is key as you may need to adapt lesson plans at short notice.
* Each school has its own policies, procedures, and expectations. You'll need to quickly familiarize yourself with the school's routines, behavior management strategies, and safeguarding protocols.
* You'll assess student progress, provide constructive feedback, and record attendance and any notable incidents. Effective communication with regular teaching staff ensures continuity in students' learning experiences.
* Uphold high professional standards and adhere to the school's code of conduct. Punctuality, reliability, and professionalism are valued traits in supply teachers.
* Maintain open communication with the school's administration, regular teaching staff, and parents or guardians as necessary, keeping them informed of any relevant issues or developments.
The successful candidate will:
* Have previous experience working as a teacher or supply teacher within an educational setting.
* Some schools may accept candidates with relevant teaching experience even if they don't hold QTS.
* A valid DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check is necessary to work with children.
* Hold relevant qualifications or training in education, childcare, or a related field.
* Are passionate about supporting the learning and development of student and making a positive difference in their lives.
