We have an opportunity for a passionate and caring person to join our dedicated team of Support Workers in our Supported Living Service in Llanelli. This is a fully flexible relief position. This service needs to be staffed 24/7 so you will be required to work various shift patterns including days, evenings, weekends, wakeful nights and sleep in shifts as part of a rolling rota. Day shifts are typically split between 7am-11pm, with 8 hour sleeps ins as extra (these shifts are lone working). Due to the needs of the individuals we support in this service, a full UK manual driving licence and access to a car is required.

What is the role?

This supported living service is the home to 3 lovely ladies with mental health needs. You will be working with these incredible individuals to support with day to day independence, enhance their various skills and support them with daily activities as well as providing emotional support.

The service promotes the importance of the “do with and not do for” approach and has had a very positive impact on these incredible individuals.

You will be expected to support with daily aspects of living, including:

* Medication administration
* Cooking skills and other household skills
* Some personal care needs
* Accessing the community and supporting to local groups
* Supporting with individuals’ hobbies and activities such as walking.
* Being a team player and having good communication skills
* Completing relevant paperwork to a high standard
* Supporting individuals to budget finances
* Providing companionship to the people we support through talking about their interests and wellbeing
* Having fun by encouraging the supported individuals to take part in activities that enhance their life skills and promote independence
* Take the people we support out and about therefore a full manual driving licence is essential for this role
* Encouraging and supporting with cleaning and administrative duties
* Being able to bring fresh ideas to the team and implement different ways of working
* Supporting Individuals with their individual needs

2 individuals in this service do smoke, we ask that applicants consider this before applying.


What skills and experience do you need?

A background of working with people with physical or mental health needs is desired, but not necessary as full training and support from senior staff and management is provided. More important are:

* A passion to work with and enable people to live as independent a life as possible
* An enthusiasm and passion for making a difference to people’s lives
* A strong initiative and ability to work alone as well as being a great team player


What are the pay and benefits?

An hourly rate of £12.75 making the annual salary £24,531 (FTE)
