Business Development Manager – Hospital Discharge & Community Engagement
Location: Kent | Salary: £50k pro-rata + commission | Contract: Part-Time, 2 days/week, rolling 3-month contract (4-week notice)
About the Role
We are supporting a growing healthcare provider in their search for an experienced Business Development Manager to lead hospital discharge partnerships and drive community engagement for older adults transitioning from hospital to home. You will play a key role in improving post-hospital care pathways, reducing readmissions, and enhancing patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Hospital Discharge Partnerships
* Build and maintain strong relationships with NHS and private hospital discharge teams, case managers, social workers, and healthcare professionals.
* Collaborate with hospital administrators to improve patient flow and care pathways from hospital to home.
* Coordinate with internal teams and multi-disciplinary professionals to implement patient-centred discharge plans.
* Drive awareness of the provider’s services among hospital teams, patients, and families.
* Partner with operational teams to develop robust hospital discharge pipelines.
* Support marketing initiatives to position the services as a trusted post-hospital solution.
Community Engagement & Outreach
* Promote a Brand Ambassador Program, engaging local ambassadors to increase awareness.
* Develop and execute region-specific community engagement strategies with charities, support groups, and later-life professionals.
* Host events, attend networking forums, and participate in industry panels to elevate the organisation’s visibility.
* Provide insights from community engagement to improve services, referral processes, and strategic planning.
Experience & Skills Required
* Minimum 5 years’ experience in a business development or sales role, ideally within health or social care.
* Strong relationship management and stakeholder engagement skills, with proven ability to influence across multiple sectors.
* Knowledge of hospital discharge processes and elderly care services is highly desirable.
* Commercial awareness, data-driven mindset, and ability to analyse referral trends.
* Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
* Self-motivated, highly organised, and able to work autonomously while collaborating effectively with internal teams.
* Must be based in or around Kent to ensure strong local knowledge and presence.
