Lecturer - Mechanical/Manufacture Engineering
Salary: 41,833 - 50,359
1.0 FTE / 35 hours
Based at Falkirk Campus
Fixed-term until March 2026
Responsibilities
* Teach Manufacturing Engineering for learners across SCQF levels 5 to 7 in a practical and experiential setting.
* Deliver predominantly workshop-based teaching with significant experience in manual Milling and turning.
* Deliver classroom sessions in related subjects such as materials, quality control and Health and Safety.
* Produce high quality learning, teaching and assessment materials and deliver teaching relative to the specialist areas of fabrication/welding.
* Deliver practical, experiential learning within engineering workshops, with some in-class delivery.
* Work as part of a team to ensure the curriculum is relevant and up-to-date.
* Demonstrate appropriate ICT skills and a solid knowledge of health and safety.
* Be prepared to work toward a professional teaching qualification, and Assessor and Verifier qualifications.
* Ideally hold a relevant Higher qualification or professional equivalent.
Qualifications and Experience
* Significant industrial experience in relevant engineering field/area; candidates with such experience will be considered even if they do not have prior teaching experience.
* Ideal candidate will have experience in manual Milling and turning and experience in related subjects.
* Teaching experience is desirable but not essential.
* Candidate should be prepared to work toward a professional teaching qualification and Assessor/Verifier qualifications.
* Appropriate ICT skills and good knowledge of health and safety.
* Ideally hold a relevant Higher qualification or professional equivalent.
Location and Terms
The Department of STEM and Construction operates across all three Forth Valley campuses and there may be a requirement to work at our other campuses if required.
