Responsibilities
* Act as a key liaison between customers, suppliers, and internal teams on all quality-related matters to facilitate clear communication and issue resolution.
* Conduct internal, supplier, and system audits to ensure compliance with ISO 9001 standards and customer-specific requirements, identifying areas for improvement.
* Manage non-conformances, customer complaints, and root cause investigations utilizing structured methodologies such as 8D and 5 Whys to drive corrective actions.
* Lead operator training sessions in inspection techniques, measurement methods, and equipment usage, including the preparation of detailed work instructions to ensure consistency and accuracy.
* Oversee the management and calibration of measurement and test equipment, ensuring traceability, accuracy, and compliance with industry standards.
* Review complex engineering drawings to develop appropriate inspection and measurement strategies, ensuring thorough understanding and proper application.
* Prepare and maintain inspection and test documentation, reports, and quality control plans to support manufacturing and validation processes.
* Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to enhance inspection processes, equipment capability, and data analysis techniques.
* Participate in project meetings, providing quality input during design, manufacturing, and validation phases to ensure product integrity and compliance.
* Conduct supplier audits and performance reviews, offering constructive feedback and recommendations for improvement to strengthen supply chain quality.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of five years of experience in a Quality Engineering or similar role within a manufacturing or engineering environment. A completed Mechanical Engineering Apprenticeship or an equivalent qualification is essential. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general PC-based systems is required. A strong understanding of inspection methods, measurement techniques, and interpretation of complex mechanical drawings is necessary. Experience in training and coaching employees on quality and inspection topics is highly desirable. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate effective project management and communication skills, with a proven track record of liaising directly with customers and suppliers. Preferred qualifications include experience with CMM programming (preferably PC-DMIS), familiarity with Hexagon or similar CMM systems, recognized ISO 9001/9000 Auditor certification, and a solid background in data-driven analysis and quality reporting.
