Overview of the job
The role is based in a prison and involves working with groups and individuals to deliver programs that help prisoners understand their behaviors, build positive relationships, improve critical thinking skills, and support them in living an offence-free future. The role works as part of a small team of Group Workers to provide rehabilitative services and meet government objectives to reduce re-offending.
Summary
The job holder will deliver various activities and programs, including assessments, group and individual treatments, and support rehabilitative activities within the prison. The role offers training, career development, and professional support. It is a non-operational, non-rotational role with no line management responsibilities.
Responsibilities, Activities, and Duties
* Deliver programs in group or individual settings, following manuals and designed methods.
* Organize materials and plan sessions to meet program requirements and adapt to participant needs.
* Notify team members of session cancellations and complete catch-up sessions.
* Recruit participants, conduct assessments, and maintain accurate records.
* Engage prisoners through motivational interviews and ongoing motivation strategies.
* Record session outcomes, progress, and set objectives post-session.
* Liaise with sentence management teams and participate in sentence management activities.
* Follow quality assurance guidelines and participate in supervision and professional development.
* Deliver awareness packages to staff.
