Overview
As the Scan 4 Safety Lead, you will act as the operational lead for Scan4Safety systems, translating vision into real‑world impact across multiple hospital sites. This high‑impact leadership role brings together technology, data and healthcare to drive improvements across the Lancashire and South Cumbria region.
Responsibilities
* The post holder will be the operational lead for Scan 4 Safety project‑based work, translating strategic vision into practice.
* Maintain full in‑depth knowledge of the Trust’s inventory management and Scan 4 Safety systems.
* Use system‑based information to identify problems and work closely with internal and external partners.
* Develop and monitor KPIs to assess system performance and user compliance, reporting findings to senior management.
* Lead and manage the Systems Engineer Team, ensuring roles and responsibilities are met and service delivery is efficient.
* Manage departmental projects involving S4S systems, including project planning, stakeholder engagement and delivery.
* Utilise departmental tools to standardise processes, rationalise operations and identify waste reduction and savings opportunities across the Trust.
* Participate in small procurement projects as directed by department leads.
* Represent the Procurement department at conferences and networking events across the UK.
* Provide a first‑class customer care service to all users of the Trust and resolve customer queries and complaints.
* Ensure user expectations are met in line with Procurement Services Standards.
* Assist Trust Management in meeting corporate objectives of the Trusts and One LSC.
* Any other duties as required.
* Work closely with Logistics, Supply Chain and Procurement teams, and wider Trust colleagues.
* Represent the Department in senior management meetings and engagement sessions.
* Communicate effectively to stakeholders, providing concise, digestible information across multiple platforms.
* Develop and maintain strong working relationships with Trust colleagues, customers and suppliers.
* Lead and motivate employees to achieve organisational goals and departmental vision.
* Create strategies to achieve objectives, manage change, and manage stakeholder expectations.
* Resolve conflicts and foster relationship management.
* Engage external stakeholders for strategic system development, identifying growth opportunities.
* Ensure clinical incidents are reported in accordance with Trust procedures and maintain accurate records.
* Adhere to the Trust’s Health & Safety policy and audit procedures.
* Provide input into new technology processes aligned with departmental strategies.
* Understand and comply with Trust policies, procedures, Standing Financial Instructions, EU legislation and CIPS code of conduct.
Qualifications
* Educated to A‑Level or equivalent, or relevant experience.
* Current or studying towards a CIPS/CILT qualification.
Desirable Criteria
* Business or IT related degree or equivalent.
* Project management qualification or experience.
* Proven experience as a professional lead with project management experience.
* Experience with IM / e‑commerce systems and small purchasing projects.
* Experience delivering presentations to all levels of staff within a Trust.
* Strong track record of delivering results and developing staff.
* Experience implementing and controlling a Scan 4 Safety compliant IMS in an NHS environment.
* Experience in purchasing and supply e‑commerce initiatives.
* Excellent communication skills; organisational, interpersonal and analytical abilities.
* Demonstrated problem‑solving and remedial experience.
* Knowledge of e‑procurement systems and ability to produce reports and BI dashboards.
* Proficient with IMS and Microsoft systems, including BI reporting capabilities.
* Ability to utilise IMS data to drive efficiency and improve patient safety.
* Self‑initiative, ability to work independently, and strong drive for results.
* Travel flexibility and capacity to work under pressure.
* Effective influencer, resilient, reliable attendance, team player.
* Ability to communicate at all levels.
