The Company
You will be joining a reputable and well-established engineering contractor operating nationally across rail, civils, and engineering sectors. AmcoGiffen is recognised for delivering specialist civil, building, mechanical, and electrical renewals and maintenance works through long-term frameworks and major projects. You will become part of a highly skilled and respected organisation with a strong reputation for quality and delivery.
The Role
As a Steel Erector within the AmcoGiffen Fabrication team, you will play a vital role in the safe and efficient installation of steel structures on sites across the UK.
Your responsibilities will include:
Erecting and installing steelwork for bridges, structures, and mechanical assemblies
Working from detailed drawings and installation plans
Ensuring all site resources—labour, plant, materials, and subcontractors—are effectively coordinated
Supporting site supervision to maintain safe systems of work and high-quality installation standards
Carrying out bridge repairs, new bridge installations, and mechanical steelwork installations
Working collaboratively with fabrication teams to ensure seamless delivery from workshop to site
This is a hands-on, site-based role requiring national travel and occasional night or weekend work.
Requirements
To succeed in this role, you will bring:
Proven experience in steel erection or steel fabrication
Experience installing steelwork and steel structures on site
A recognised trade qualification in steel erection or fabrication
CSCS Site Manager / Site Supervisor card
PTS (Personal Track Safety)
Experience working on railway structures
Full UK driving License
