New Directions Education is working with a primary school in the Birkenhead area that is seeking an experienced Teaching Assistant to support pupils with SEMH needs.
This is a long-term, morning-only role, starting ASAP, ideal for someone with a calm, patient approach and experience supporting children with social, emotional and mental health needs.

Hours: Mornings only
Contract: Long-term
The Role:
You will be providing targeted support to pupils with SEMH needs, helping them regulate emotions, remain engaged in learning and build positive relationships within the school environment.
Key Responsibilities:
– Supporting pupils with SEMH and emotional regulation
– Providing consistent, nurturing support within the classroom
– Helping pupils stay focused and on task
– Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO
– Promoting positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing

– Strong behaviour management skills
– Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities

Job Specification
Teaching, Learning or Classroom Assistants are now vital resources for teachers and are heavily relied upon in schools.
We specialise in recruiting Teaching Assistants (TA) who are qualified in the following;
1. NVQ Level 2 Teaching Assistant
2. NVQ Level 3 Teaching Assistant
3. Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA)

As a teaching assistant you’ll be expected to:
15. Assist in the educational and social development of pupils under the direction and guidance of the head teacher, ALNCO and class teachers
16. Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Programmes (IEP) for students and help monitor their progress
17. Provide support for individual students inside and outside the classroom to enable them to fully participate in activities
18. Assist class teachers with maintaining student records
19. Support students with emotional or behavioural problems and help develop their social skills.
