Job Summary
The Driver's Mate plays a crucial role in supporting the delivery process by assisting drivers with loading and unloading goods, ensuring that deliveries are completed efficiently and safely. This position requires a keen attention to detail and a strong commitment to maintaining high standards of service. The Driver's Mate will work closely with the driver to facilitate smooth operations within the warehouse and during transit.
Responsibilities
* Assist in loading and unloading goods from vehicles, ensuring that items are handled with care.
* Support the driver in navigating routes and delivering goods to various locations.
* Engage in picking and packing activities, ensuring accurate order fulfilment.
* Maintain an organised stock area, ensuring that materials are stored correctly.
* Operate forklifts safely when required, adhering to all safety protocols. Licence provided after probation if you do not have a licence.
* Perform heavy lifting tasks as necessary, demonstrating physical stamina and strength. Manual handling training provided.
* Handle materials with care, ensuring that all items are accounted for during the delivery process.
* Collaborate with team members to build efficient workflows and enhance overall productivity.
Skills
* Proficient in picking packing techniques and stock management.
* Experience operating forklifts is desirable but not essential.
* Ability to perform heavy lifting tasks consistently throughout the shift.
* Familiarity with warehouse management procedures for effective inventory control.
* Strong materials handling skills, ensuring safe transport of goods.
* Capability to build effective working relationships within a team environment.
* Competence in loading and unloading procedures to ensure safety and efficiency.
