Job Description
As a Project Planner, you will work closely with stakeholders to define, plan, and manage all aspects of a project. You will lead the development, maintenance, and monitoring of project schedules, providing clear visibility of milestones, dependencies, and resource requirements to ensure successful delivery. The role involves planning and controlling medium to high-complexity projects within a programme, tracking progress throughout the project lifecycle to ensure outcomes are achieved.
Your core responsibilities:
* Provide specialist planning advice and support to enable the successful delivery of projects.
* Advise Project Managers during initiation on appropriate planning approaches, tools, processes, and proportionality.
* Lead the development of robust, resource-loaded schedules across the full project lifecycle using Primavera P6, with clearly defined critical paths.
* Partner with Project Managers to support delivery of business case objectives and benefits.
* Champion best practice project planning standards, tools, and processes, setting clear vision and expectations.
* Analyse performance data and trends to identify risks, issues, opportunities, and areas for improvement.
* Ensure stakeholder responsibilities and reporting requirements are clearly defined and effectively managed.
* Manage and analyse project resources within P6 to identify future capacity and capability needs and implement mitigation strategies.
* Build and maintain internal and external networks to access and apply technical and professional best practice.
* Contribute to continuous improvement of scheduling and planning approaches through the PM Working Group, while coaching and mentoring junior planners and managing suppliers and staff.
Qualifications
* Relevant qualification in Project Management or Controls (e.g. APM-PMQ, PRINCE2, APMG)
* Degree in a relevant discipline and/or membership of APM
* Advanced proficiency in Primavera P6, with experience planning medium to large, complex projects.
* Proven track record of leading project planning activities, including development of schedules, WBS structures, and critical paths.
* Strong understanding of project planning, controls, and project management processes within complex delivery environments.
* Experience with MS Project or other planning tools
