PDMS Administrator – Permanent – South West England
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced PDMS Administrator to join a major energy project in the South West on a full‑time, permanent basis. This role is ideal for a technical specialist who thrives in a fast‑paced, multi‑site engineering environment and enjoys being at the heart of delivering complex industrial projects.
As a PDMS Administrator, you will manage and optimise the PDMS environment to ensure accurate, efficient, and compliant piping design deliverables. You’ll work closely with designers, engineers, and project stakeholders to maintain data integrity, streamline workflows, and support high‑quality execution across the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
* Set up and manage PDMS model files to enable highly automated, accurate design deliverables.
* Install and manage PDMS bases to ensure data accuracy, system compliance, and smooth data transfer.
* Administer PDMS catalogues, identifying and resolving gaps to minimise downtime.
* Create, manage, and test user accounts and access permissions to maintain system control and security.
* Oversee PDMS licensing to optimise usage and cost‑efficiency.
* Diagnose software‑related issues, coordinate resources, and drive timely resolutions.
* Build effective working relationships with internal teams and external technical partners.
* Support PDMS updates and model transfers across multiple project locations.
* Develop understanding of associated software tools to ensure consistent, quality‑driven outputs.
* Proactively support project activities and respond to ad‑hoc requirements.
* Identify opportunities for process improvement and contribute to continuous improvement programmes.
* Maintain professional development and up‑to‑date technical knowledge.
Requirements
Technical Expertise
* Experience in piping design using PDMS within complex, highly regulated industrial sectors (e.g., energy, nuclear, petrochemical).
* Understanding of pipe fabrication and manufacturing processes.
* Experience with software maintenance, troubleshooting, and IT‑related diagnostic processes.
* Experience working on construction sites or operational plants (advantageous).
* Comfortable working within multi‑disciplinary and multicultural teams.
* Strong PDMS administration and execution‑phase design knowledge for industrial piping systems.
* Familiarity with 2D and 3D design software, rules, and technical requirements.
* Excellent organisational, written, and verbal communication skills.
* Ability to work autonomously while contributing effectively within team environments.
* Strong ability to anticipate challenges, manage priorities, and perform under pressure.
* Proven ability to build positive and collaborative stakeholder relationships.
