Finance Assistant

Macildowie are working with a well-established business based in Coventry to recruit a Finance Assistant.
This is a varied role that would suit someone with previous accounts or bookkeeping experience who enjoys being involved in the wider day-to-day running of an office. You’ll be supporting the Finance Manager with core finance duties while also helping with general office administration.
What you’ll be doing:
* Processing supplier invoices and payments
* Raising customer invoices and allocating payments
* Maintaining purchase and sales ledgers
* Carrying out bank reconciliations, supplier statement reconciliations and petty cash checks
* Supporting credit control and chasing overdue payments
* Inputting financial data accurately onto the system
* Assisting with monthly accounts preparation, VAT returns and year-end reporting
* Responding to finance-related queries by phone and email
Alongside the finance side of the role, you’ll also support with general office administration, including:
* Managing the main office phone line
* Handling incoming post
* Keeping physical and digital files organised
* Ordering office supplies and stationery
* Liaising with external suppliers when needed
What we’re looking for:
* Previous experience in a finance assistant, accounts assistant, bookkeeping or similar role
* Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
* Strong attention to detail
* Organised and able to manage a busy workload
* Confident communicator with a professional approach
Experience using Orderwise would be helpful, but it’s not essential.
