Specialist Teaching Assistant (deaf children) Scale 5 ( 28,598 - 31,022 pro rata) 34 hours, Full-Time or two part time posts split between two candidates (job offers to successful candidates will be made according to the days/hours preferences they express on their application form). Includes a paid Wed staff meeting to 5pm Term-Time Only Permanent Hearing and Vision Specialist Service, Hardman Centre Stockport SK3 0BJ. Join us at Stockport Council MJ Local Authority of the Year 2025 Your Role Required as soon as possible: an enthusiastic and committed person to become part of the Hearing and Vision Specialist Service, part of Stockport Council Children s Education Services. The role is to support the development, learning and inclusion of deaf children and young people who use either speaking and listening and/or BSL signed communication. The role is within a team providing specialist deaf education and family support for deaf children and young people. It includes working 1-1 and in small groups both in and out of classroom settings. This may or may not include providing BSL signed communication support, depending on the communication preferences and needs of the children. About You Candidates must be able to clearly demonstrate a keen aspiration to specifically work with deaf children and young people in the specialist deaf education sector. We welcome and will consider applications from candidates who are not experienced in deaf education, but who have a basic background knowledge or strong interest in working with deaf children and young people. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential, including a minimum of British Sign Language level 2. We welcome applicants who are deaf or hearing. About Us The post will be mainly based at our primary resourced provision for deaf children/young people in a mainstream primary school with some potential opportunities for working in other settings in future. You would be supported in your role by a warm and friendly team: Team leader, Specialist Teachers of Deaf Children and Young People and other Specialist Teaching Assistants.
