Job Description:
Why should you work on the Energy Transition Platform?
The world is facing a climate emergency. We see it as our obligation – as an industry leader and with the resources available to us – to do all we can to get to net zero operations as fast as possible and to help our customers decarbonise their global supply chains end to end. In early 2022, we announced the ambitious goal of advancing the target year for our commitment to reach net zero emissions by a full decade, to 2040.
Role Summary:
We are seeking a product manager passionate about the energy transition. You will lead the technical platform for bunker optimisation, driving continuous improvements now and in the future.
The customised bunker optimisation model generates fuel loading plans for vessels, reflecting price arbitrage across ports. It optimises bunker plans for our fleet of over 700 vessels by determining the optimal bunker sourcing at each port, considering evolving prices and consumption estimates.
This role is crucial in reducing bunker spend, lowering ocean emissions through green fuel optimisation, and adjusting for regulatory incentives. We seek a candidate with a balance of software engineering understanding, business acumen, and product management expertise. You will collaborate with global operational and trading teams to understand requirements and work with subject matter experts. Data-driven decision making and leadership qualities are essential. You will work at the forefront of the energy transition in shipping within a values-driven industry.
Our goal is to build a system that makes a difference now and remains relevant beyond 2040. We utilize advanced technology such as Elixir and data mesh, with agile ways of working. You will work closely with an engineering team practicing pair programming, TDD, continuous integration, and delivery for multiple daily deployments.
Key Responsibilities:
* Deliver the Outcome: take accountability for road map delivery and drive accountability in others.
* Product Development: Lead development of a technology product focused on bunker optimisation and green fuels.
* Customer Engagement: Collaborate with customers to understand their needs and ensure our product meets requirements.
* Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with engineering, data science, and operations teams to design and implement features.
* Performance Monitoring: Track and analyze product performance, making data-driven improvements.
* Stakeholder Engagement: Communicate vision, progress, and outcomes to stakeholders.
About You:
* You can focus on delivery in complex environments.
* You thrive in ambiguity, seeking alignment and attention to detail.
* You can present to diverse audiences with subject matter and technical expertise.
* You are passionate about building products at the intersection of business, data, and technology.
* You can manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.
* You are professional, dedicated, detail-oriented, energetic, and a team player.
* You have a track record of delivering complex solutions, including platforms.
Preferred Qualifications and Experience:
* Degree in Science, Engineering, or a technical field.
* Experience in Energy Markets (mandatory).
* 10+ years in product management, engineering, or product development in regulated, high-performance environments like banking or energy trading.
* Familiarity with MIP optimization and operations research.
* Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
* Experience managing complex environments and resolving challenges.
* Knowledge of energy efficiency, decarbonization, and climate calculations.
* Experience across full product lifecycle in agile frameworks.
* Proficiency in tools like JIRA, Confluence, MIRO.
* Ability to communicate clearly and logically.
* Experience delivering updates, requirements, and artefacts according to standards.
* Strong analytical skills to interpret customer and business needs into requirements.
