We’re looking for an innovative, driven individual who is passionate about serving Nottingham’s communities.
About The Role
This is a brand‑new opportunity to become Nottingham City Council’s first Waste and Recycling Schools Advisor. In this role you will shape and deliver a waste, recycling, and litter education programme for younger generations, setting the standard for future initiatives and leaving a lasting legacy. You will work alongside the Waste Reduction Engagement and Clean Champions teams.
You’ll build relationships with schools across the city, acting as the main point of contact for all things related to recycling and waste education. Together with teachers, staff, and caretakers you will develop tailored educational tools and resources that enable children from KS1 to KS4 to recycle correctly and inspire positive behaviour change at home.
You’ll design and deliver engaging workshops, assemblies, and activities, and develop creative materials such as posters, digital content, games, and interactive sessions that make recycling accessible and fun for all age groups. You will also support and encourage student‑led environmental clubs and projects, helping children become sustainability champions in their schools and communities.
About You
* Familiarity with the National Curriculum and integrating environmental education.
* Experience in creating educational content tailored to different age groups and learning styles, including SEND.
* Strong communication skills – verbal and written – and proficiency with IT tools and digital channels.
* Up‑to‑date knowledge of recycling and waste management legislation and best practice, and ability to integrate this into service delivery.
* Ability to build positive relationships, engage and motivate education staff, students, and external partners.
