Head and Neck Cancer Care Care Coordinator
An exciting opportunity to join the head and neck specialist nursing team has become available. We are a small, friendly, and proactive team based in Bexley Wing, St James’s Hospital. We are keyworkers for patients with head and neck cancer and are pivotal in supporting patients at diagnosis, right through to the end of their treatment, whether this is through a curative or palliative pathway.
Main duties
The post holder will be responsible for triaging calls and emails, signposting patients to appropriate services in a timely manner, liaising with hospital colleagues and community partners, and working closely with CNS colleagues and the multidisciplinary team. The role includes providing expert advice and psychological support to patients and carers, maintaining daily contact throughout diagnosis and treatment, handling administrative tasks, and supporting patient journey coordination. This part‑time position (30 hours per week) is predominantly office‑based with telephone, email and occasional face‑to‑face contact.
Team
The post holder will join a dedicated team comprising five clinical nurse specialists, six oncology consultants, four ENT surgical consultants, five oral and maxillofacial surgical consultants, three plastic surgical consultants, and two restorative dental consultants, as well as dieticians and speech and language therapists.

Qualifications
* Literate and numerate – Basic Skills Maths and English level 2 (GCSE A–C equivalent) or a level 2 pass in the Trust literacy and numeracy assessment.
Experience
* Significant experience of working within a clinical health care setting, including working with patients and/or the public.
