Holbrook Biomass Plant is a 6.5MWe biomass fired combined heat and power station is designed to provide CO2 savings of over 210,000 Tonnes over the project life. The renewable energy generated is equivalent to that used to power about 12,000 homes. The plant uses around 55,000 tonnes of waste wood per year that may have traditionally gone to landfill. px Group took on responsibility for the operations and maintenance, performance, emission monitoring and ash disposal from the site, as well as managing the biomass fuel on site. The contract supported the px Group strategy to grow their footprint in green energy with partners around the UK.
The Opportunity
We are now recruiting for an Operations Assistant. It is the responsibility of the Operations Assistant to ensure the fuel is delivered correctly to the fuel hall and the fuel feed is ensured and maintained. In addition, assisting the operations staff on shift with boiler blowdowns, housekeeping and operational tasks.
You'll be supported with personalised on the job training, coaching, mentoring and twice-yearly development and performance reviews to help maintain & develop your contributions and competence.
Key Responsibilities
To carry out work in a safe and diligent manner, complying with all Health, Safety and quality policies and procedures
Supervise the reception, banking, unloading/loading and departure of Holbrook Biomass wood fuel, ash removal and chemical delivery vehicles in adherence to the site traffic safety plan and relevant QA procedures. Safe weighbridge operations to record fuel, ash and chemical quantities.
Effective cleaning of all production plant areas ensuring wood dust is kept to a minimum and to assist Shift Controllers with boiler blowdowns to help maximise plant efficiency.
Work closely with members of the Operation team & Maintenance team and at times be expected to support these other members when workloads dictate.
Responsible for the reception of wood delivery vehicles at the weighbridge.
Ensuring the site traffic safety plan is strictly adhered to
To ensure all necessary documentation is received or issued as appropriate
To undertake plant cleaning duties as part of the plant housekeeping regime
Minimum Requirements:
GCSE Maths & English or equivalent
Contributing to and completing responsibilities in a continuous process operations role.
Fork Lift Truck /or mobile plant driving
Experience working with and directing vehicles and their drivers.
Tele-handler license/experience
Experience cleaning and housekeeping to maintain a safe and clean working environment.
