What will you do?
* Lead the development of regional electricity demand and generation forecasts using real-time data and stakeholder inputs.
* Analyse the network’s ability to meet future needs through network simulations and power flow analysis.
* Support our Whole System Strategy, collaborating with other DNOs and National Grid to identify and mitigate cross-network impacts.
* Help build and apply tools like Digital Twins and automated scenario analysis to model future network constraints.
* Work with internal teams to recommend smart, efficient investment decisions — including traditional and non-wire alternatives.
* Maintain and enhance detailed network models across voltage levels for dynamic analysis.
You’ll Be a Great Fit If You Have:
* A background in power systems engineering, ideally with experience in forecasting, load modelling, or network planning.
* Strong technical knowledge of network analysis tools (e.g. DIgSILENT PowerFactory, PSSE, etc.)
* Familiarity with electricity distribution networks and the UK’s regulatory landscape (e.g. Ofgem, Whole System Licence).
* A desire to apply innovative thinking to meet the energy system challenges of the future.
What qualifications and experience should you have?
Essential qualifications and experience
* Level 5 or 6 (HND, degree, or equivalent) in STEM subject, or a level 4 qualification (e.g., HNC) with at least three years of relevant experience
* Knowledgeable user of power system analysis software e.g. PowerFactory. Ability to develop scripts for automating analyses would be an advantage
* Energy sector experience and knowledge of the decarbonisation energy transition
* Strong technical and analytical skills to interpret information and apply judgement to decision making
Desirable qualifications and experience
* Experience of working in a regulated or complex organisation
* Experience of cross-functional working in a large organisation
* Highly effective relationship manager - influential with internal and external stakeholders
* Energy sector experience and knowledge of the decarbonisation energy transition
