Interim Finance Manager job in Newton Abbot, Devon
We are looking for an experienced Finance Manager ready to take the lead in a dynamic, fast-paced environment for a period of at least 3 months.
Our client is seeking a motivated and collaborative individual to join the leadership team and take full ownership of the finance function. This is a key role that will see you managing day-to-day operations, leading a team of three, and contributing to strategic financial planning and decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead and oversee the daily operations of the finance department.
* Manage, develop, and appraise a finance team of three.
* Monitor financial transactions including payroll, invoicing, and general operations.
* Prepare monthly management accounts and analyse P&L variances.
* Maintain accurate and timely accounting records for internal and external reporting.
* Liaise with auditors and support budget setting and forecasting processes.
* Provide commentary and financial insight to support strategic decisions.
* Deliver detailed short-term cashflow reporting and treasury management.
* Oversee weekly/monthly payroll and CIS payments.
* Ensure compliance with tax regulations (VAT, PAYE, CIS, corporation tax).
* Manage accounts receivable and payable processes.
* Maintain and optimise accounting software systems.
* Analyse KPI variances and support ongoing business performance reviews.
* Support ad hoc projects and HR compliance initiatives.
Skills & Qualifications:
* Fully qualified accountant (CIMA, ACCA, ACA or equivalent).
* Proven experience in a senior finance role, preferably within a fast-moving or construction environment.
* Strong leadership and team management skills.
* Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
* Commercially minded with strong business acumen.
* Meticulous attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills.
* Strong Excel skills and familiarity with Sage L50
* Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
